Fully realized
An investment that has been completely disposed of or otherwise realized. Investment proceeds received by a fund are distinct from distributions to its limited partners, which may occur later or be affected by retention and recycling terms.
Fully realized in round numbers
Hypothetical: a fund invests US$50m of equity and receives total equity proceeds of US$120m on complete realization three years later, with no interim flows or additional equity. The gross investment multiple is 120 ÷ 50 = 2.4x before fund fees and carry. This does not state the amount or timing distributed to limited partners; the three-year duration matters to internal rate of return (IRR), not the multiple alone.
