GP commitment
Capital committed to a fund by its general partner, affiliates or partners under the fund’s structure. It can support alignment, but its size and funding form must be assessed alongside the broader economic terms.
GP commitment in practice
Hypothetical: total fund commitments of US$500m include a 2% general partner (GP)-side commitment of US$10m. The denominator is total fund commitments, including the GP portion, not the GP’s own wealth. A commitment is not necessarily cash funded immediately; cash contributions, borrowing and fee-waiver arrangements have different economics.
