Net revenue retention
Revenue retained from the customers in a beginning cohort, including expansion and subtracting contraction and churn, divided by that cohort’s starting revenue on a matched measurement basis. Revenue from new customers is excluded.
Net revenue retention in round numbers
Hypothetical, using monthly recurring revenue in the same currency at the start and end of a twelve-month interval: the starting customer cohort has 100 initially, plus 20 expansion, minus 5 contraction and 10 churn, leaving 105. Net revenue retention is 105 ÷ 100 = 105%; new customers are excluded.
