Opco
An operating company conducts business activities within a group. It need not be a factory, the group may have several operating companies, and other entities can also contribute value.
Opco in practice
Hypothetical: a holding company owns an operating subsidiary that serves customers and employs staff. Other group entities may supply services, manage intellectual property or perform additional operations. The ownership label alone does not establish which entity creates all the value.
