Rounds of financing
Distinct events in which a company raises capital. Seed and lettered rounds are common startup labels, not a required sequence. A priced equity round sets a share price; other instruments may defer pricing.
Rounds of financing in round numbers
Hypothetical: a startup raises US$2 million in a seed round and later raises US$10 million in a Series A. Those amounts are new capital raised, totaling US$12 million. They do not establish either round’s valuation or the dilution of existing holders. Later valuations can rise, fall, or stay flat.
