Run-rate
A specified financial measure from a recent period extrapolated to an annual rate. It is an extrapolation, not an actual full-year result or a forecast.
Run-rate in round numbers
Hypothetical revenue in US$ millions: a company reports 30 for one full quarter. Multiplying by four gives an annualized revenue run-rate of 120, compared with actual revenue of 100 for the prior full year on the same accounting basis. The calculation assumes the quarterly pace continues; it does not show what the next year will earn.
